Texture Mapping

Texture Mapping

A traditional WWII "Uncle Sam" poster that incorporates textures from everyday life. The use of Hirohito's face instead of Sam's portrays the tension of the times.

  2. I'm not really sure what the message is behind this piece. Nothing seems to indicate tension, it seems more like unsuccessful satire between Hirohito's expression and the fish patterns on the words. There are some interesting colors and textures to look at, but there aren't any unifying elements thematically. I think if you incorporated more symbols of Japanese vs. American culture/politics, if you're trying to convey tension.

  3. I would have manipulated the text to say something new as well, if you weren't trying to convey a completely political message.
