Self Portrait

I first took a photo of myself wake boarding and photoshopped the shark into it to give it a different feel and meaning. By doing this it helps to portray more about myself than just that I like to wakeboard or spend time on the water. It also gives the idea of adventure and risk. The end image is different in the way that I had originally pictured it. Even after watching tutorials about Illustrator I found it much harder to create content with than photoshop. I was able to give it a basic cartoony feel by using large shapes with sharp edges and color changes. In the end I like how it turned out as more of a fake cartoon look versus a realistic picture. By leaving out detailed parts of the face, water, shark, etc you are forced to look at the work as a whole rather than individual assets.

New Media- Video: Response Post

Today Prof. Benjamin Bellas talked about various forms of new media consisting of both video and physical projects. I found the various videos the most interesting as it was another way to show art work that I could relate to. I have always been fascinated with video as I used it in past art classes to turn still images into a working piece of art. I found the video game art pieces the most interesting as it took something that people already knew and changed in a way that made it a new work of art for them, something that they had not seen yet.
